If I could, I’d probably fill my entire refrigerator with rolls of film for all my different 6×6 cameras.
There’s just something magical about medium format. The detail, the dynamic range, the colors, the depth… basically everything. That big 6×6 negative has a look and feeling that I absolutely love.
And then there’s 35mm. Different cameras, different lenses, different films—each combination has its own character. Part of the fun is choosing what camera and film to take with me before I even leave the house.
But what I love most about film photography is that it slows me down. I think more about the light, the composition, the moment—and whether something is really worth a frame. No endless burst of shots. No checking the screen afterwards. You take the photo and move on.
Then comes the waiting.
Getting the film developed, holding those negatives up to the light for the first time, scanning them and slowly seeing the images appear… That anticipation is a huge part of the experience for me.
Sometimes you get exactly what you hoped for. Sometimes you get a surprise. And sometimes you wonder what the hell you were thinking. 😄
That’s film photography. And that’s exactly why I love it. 🎞️📷
